Fadlu Davids has been unveiled as new head coach of Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic.
Having announced his exit from his role as Simba SC head coach, Davids completed a sensational return to Raja CA just one year after being bought out of his contract at the club.
Davids served as the assistant coach to Josef Zinnabauer at the Botola Pro giants as they won the league and cup unbeaten that season.
While the German left for a brief stint at Al Wehda in Saudi Arabia, Davids and his South African technical team went on to Tanzania – where they have made a real impression despite not winning silverware.
Sources have confirmed that Simba were keen on retaining the coach, but the lure of returning to Morocco was seemingly too hard to refuse for Davids and his crew after they parted ways with Lasaad Chabbi this past weekend.
“Raja Club Athletic announces the appointment of Mr. Fadlu Davids as head coach of the first team,” the club stated on Monday.
“Davids was a key player in the historic 2023-2024 season double – the National Championship ‘Botola Pro’, which the team won undefeated, and the Throne Cup – where he played a crucial role as assistant coach.
“The selection of Fadlu Davids to lead the Raja Club Athletic first team was based on his prior knowledge of the club, which makes him the ideal person to strengthen the team’s cohesion and lead Raja Club Athletic to achieve its sporting and institutional ambitions.
“This decision comes as part of the continuation of Raja Club Athletic’s new project, which aims to build a stable, effective structure with a vision for the future.
“The club reaffirms its reliance on the unconditional support of its loyal supporters to support the team in this new phase.”
