Referee Luxolo Badi’s decision to award Kaizer Chiefs a penalty against Marumo Gallants was not the correct decision, according to former PSL official Victor Hlungwani.
Amakhosi were leading 1-0 when Badi gave the hosts a penalty in the 43rd minute. Gaston Sirino stepped up but saw his effort saved by Washington Arubi.

Hlungwani reckons that because the ball made contact with the Gallants defender’s shoulder first before touching his hand, no offence was committed, and Chiefs should not have benefitted with a spot kick.
“The law says the ball that comes from your body to the hand. You can see there it’s the shoulder first, so from the shoulder to the hand,” ‘The Principal’ said.
“There’s no handball offence committed because the law says this is a justifiable moment of that particular action in this particular incident.

“So, therefore incorrect decision given for a penalty.”
