What Amajita Need To Qualify For U20 WC Knockout

With Amajita playing their last 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup Group E clash against log leaders USA, here are the permutations on how they can book a berth into the knockout phase.

South Africa started their campaign with a narrow 2-1 defeat to France but bounced back in style by hammering New Caledonia 5-0.

Raymond Mdaka’s charges currently find themselves in third spot, three points behind the US and equal on three points with France who also play their last match tonight against Caledonia.

A win or draw for Amajita will automatically grant them a spot in the next phase, and a defeat could still seal them the same fate depending on how many goals they concede.

South Africa are currently among four best third-best placed teams with South Korea, Spain and Nigeria, who are up against Colombia also later tonight.

The other two nations who were in the running to finish as part of the four best third-placed are Australia and Egypt but they have already played all their group games and both sit on three points, same as Amajita, but the latter have a better goal difference of +4 while they are on -2.

Amajita will only finish fourth, and still qualify, should Nigeria score more than five goals against Colombia. The Nigerians currently have a goal difference of 0.

Here’s the table of the four best third-placed teams:

The clash will take place at Estadio El Teniente, Rancagua, at 22:00 (SAST).
