Kaizer Chiefs legend Patrick Mayo has revealed what he said to his son Khanyisa Mayo after receiving the news that he had joined Amakhosi.
The 27-year-old joined Chiefs last month from Algerian side CR Belouizdad and has so far made his debut and scored on arrival in the match against Marumo Gallants.

Mayo senior spoke to iDiski Times senior journalist Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 224 of the newspaper where he expressed excitement at his son donning the black and gold and how he told him to keep his feet on the ground and always conduct himself professionally as pressure was about to increase.
“I was very excited when he told me Chiefs were calling,” Mayo senior told iDiski Times.
“But I also told him: this is where pressure doubles. At Chiefs, you can never relax. Every training session, every match, you must prove yourself. That’s why he needs to remain grounded. I told him he needs to be humble and work very hard, because pressure at Chiefs is always there.
“Wherever you are, you must know that you are going to conduct yourself professionally. Chiefs is not for the faint-hearted. The pressure never goes away. Even if you are not on the field, you carry it.
“That is why I always remind Khanyisa that discipline will be the difference.”
