Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos heaped praise on Sipho Mbule for his impressive performance during the match against Zimbabwe.
Despite South Africa being held to a 0-0 draw by The Warriors in the Friday night 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Mbule was perhaps the standout player for Bafana.
This was a third consecutive game for the Orlando Pirates midfielder since his return to the Bafana squad after being given a second chance by Broos.
The Belgian tactician revealed that at halftime, he instructed Mbule to become more actively involved in the game than he had been during the first half.
The Bafana gaffer was highly impressed with the player’s performance, particularly in the second half, stating that Mbule is exactly what they need in the national team.
“Certainly, I think Sipho played a very good game,” said Broos in the post-match press conference.
“I said in half-time that he has to be involved in our game. You saw in the second half when he got involved many times on the ball, there was always something good that would happen.
“So, again, I think after last two games against Lesotho and Nigeria and the game today [Friday against Zimbabwe], we’re very happy with Sipho.”
