Durban City coach Gavin Hunt has weighed in on whether the absences of giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns makes the Carling Knockout there for the taking.
The Citizens are set to clash with Richards Bay in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, 25 October. The match will be held at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.

City advanced after knocking out Polokwane City, whom they defeated 4-1 at home in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, major teams like Chiefs and Sundowns were surprisingly eliminated in the first round.
He acknowledges that big clubs like Chiefs and Sundowns would have hoped to remain in contention and hoist the cup, Hunt says the league cup always holds surprises, citing Magesi’s shocking trophy victory last season as a key example.
“Probably, they [Chiefs and Sundowns] are licking their lips,” said Hunt during the media open day on Wednesday.
“Look at last year, you could never have put your house on it. Even in the earlier rounds, Magesi beat Pirates. They beat two big teams along the way, they deserved it. It was fantastic.
“It can happen in a cup competition; it can happen in the world. My favourite team Man United dream big, come on.
“It’s the same sort of cup, league cup. So, anything can happen in a cup competition.”
