Durban City defender Terrence Mashego has revealed what club’s head coach Gavin Hunt has told them ahead of facing Kaizer Chiefs.
The clash is set for Friday evening as the two teams go head-to-head in a Betway Premiership fixture at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Amakhosi arrive for this clash with high confidence, having successfully eliminated AS Simba last week to secure their spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Meanwhile, Durban City will be looking to bounce back after suffering a Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal defeat at the hands of Richards Bay FC last weekend.
According to Mashego, Hunt’s main instruction is to avoid the recent trend of conceding goals, stressing the importance of defensive discipline.
Mashego believes that keeping a clean sheet is essential, as it would give them the best chance to snatch a win.
“Definitely, we want to make sure that they don’t score because the coach has been emphasising that we have been conceding too many goals,” said Mashego.
“We just need to make sure that we keep a clean-sheet because if we do that, we stand a good chance of winning the game.
“If you play Chiefs in front of that crowd and you make sure that they don’t score in the first half, chances are that they might be frustrated and come in numbers.
“Definitely, if they come in numbers, there will be spaces and we stand a good chance to score.”
