Kaze Makes Chiefs Admission After Smash & Grab Win

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze admitted that his charges were not up to standard despite their crucial 1-0 win over Durban City.

Amakhosi came into the match oozing with confidence after their CAF Confederation Cup success though they were in danger of playing to their fifth consecutive league draw.

The Chiefs technical team rang two changes late on in the match with the introduction of Gaston Sirino and Flavio Da Silva with the two combining well as the latter headed home for the much-needed win.

Speaking to SuperSport TV, the Chiefs mentor explained that the clash against Simba took its toll on the players but even though they were below par, they still needed to dig deep in order to come away with the three points.

“Sunday, we had a very tough game mentally, physically,” he said.

“Today it’s true that we were not at our best but it’s a league, it’s a marathon you need to win even when we’re not at our best.

“Because I remember few weeks ago there were some games we had like 70% possession, 20 shots on target we didn’t win the game. It’s those games like today you’re not at our best and you need to win to get the three points.

On Da Silva Being A Box Striker

“We knew that Silva is a box striker,” he added.

“He’s always there on the rebound, on the crosses because he was injured the last time. We couldn’t give him more minutes.

“But it’s a player that we trust and he can give us a lot.”
