Chiefs Coach On Performances vs Results Debate

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef says the team is far more worried about getting results than they are about putting up an impressive performance on the field.

Amakhosi secured an important win in the Betway Premiership against Durban City, thanks to a late strike from Flavio Silva.

The goal saved Chiefs from what appeared to be ending in a dull 0-0 draw, allowing them to claim the full points.

Ben Youssef expressed satisfaction with the victory, stating that they were unconcerned with the poor display, as securing the desired result was all that mattered.

“I think we expected that game [against Durban City] would be tough,” said Ben Youssef.

“We expected that it would be tough to keep the same performance [as against Simba] in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“We know in South Africa, it’s difficult to keep the same mentality [in cup and league matches]. You saw Stellenbosch when they lost 4-0 against Gallants [in the Carling Knockout].

“For us, what’s important is to win the game. If you remember last season and early this season, there was a lot of good games but with no results.

“Now, we think only about results, winning the game. We’re happy about performance coming with winning but for us the first thing is winning the game.”
