Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has disclosed the biggest difference he has observed in the team between last season and the current campaign.
Miguel was speaking during the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup draw that took place at SuperSport studios in Randburg on Monday.
In the Confederation Cup draw, Chiefs were placed in Group D, where they will face Zamalek SC, Al Masry, and Zesco United.
He was asked to give reasons behind Amakhosi’s turnaround, seeking insight into the team’s improved results in the Betway Premiership and their renewed presence in continental football.
Miguel suggests that the key difference this season is that the team now has a much better understanding of one another, a cohesion that was lacking in the early stages of their rebuilding phase last season.
“Last season, we worked together and we were in the middle of the process,” said Miguel.
“But we’re starting to know each other, we’re starting to know when the team struggles, we look at our teammates on what they need.
“Of course the pre-season, everything was done by the board in terms of trying to understand each other better.
“And I think that’s the biggest difference from last season to this season that I understand my teammates, what he needs, what the team needs.
“I think that has played a big, big role in our performance not as individuals but in terms of the team. We’re growing and still have a long way to go.
“We haven’t achieved nothing yet but I think we are closer than we were last season.”
