Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies defeated University of Johannesburg (UJ) 3-0 in midweek to increase their chances of clinching a sixth Hollywoodbets Super League title.
Refilwe Tholakele, Nthabiseng Majiya and Kholosa Biyana were on the score sheet at the Lucas Moripe Stadium to see Sundowns stay in top position with 68 points in 26 matches. Meanwhile the Orange Army have completed their season and are currently in seventh position with 42 points in 30 games.
TS Galaxy narrowly defeated University of Fort Hare 1-0 to keep pressure on Sundowns at the top. Leandra Smeda’s sole goal ensured that the Rockets remained in second position on the log with 63 points from 27 outings while Fort Hare remained in fourth place with 52 points in 29 games. Smeda has now scored 22 goals and stays at the summit on the top goal scorer charts, seven goals from her nearest competitor.
Elsewhere Bonolo Mokoma converted a penalty in the first half to help JVW FC win 1-0 over University of Western Cape (UWC) in Soweto. The Blue Diamonds remained in third spot equal on 63 points with Galaxy but only with two games left to play. The Blues are in sixth place with 42 points in 27 matches.
