The goal of former Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro Costa against Borussia Dortmund at the FIFA Club World Cup has been nominated for the FIFA Puskas award.
Costa has since left Sundowns, joining Cultural Leonesa in September after he terminated his contract with Masandawana – with his case still in front of the FIFA tribunal.
The Brazilian has since represented the LaLiga 2 side seven times, and has now received a major honour after being nominated for the Puskas award.
Costa famously ran from the halfway line past several Dortmund defenders before calmly slotting home in Sundowns’ 4-3 defeat.
He is nominated among some of the biggest names in the game, with FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Arsenal’s Declan Rice among the nominees.
