St. Eloi Lupopo defender Dieumerci Mukoko Amale has been slapped with a two-match suspension by CAF.
Mukoko had escaped being sent off in the second leg of Lupopo’s second preliminary round CAF Champions League clash with Orlando Pirates on 25 November.
He had gone head-to-head with Pirates’ Masindi Nemtajela and he appeared to head-butt the Pirates midfielder, which resulted in Tshepang Moremi pushing the Lupopo player.
But the match official on the day sent the wrong Lupopo player off, with Cristopher Sumbu receiving a red card alongside Moremi, while Mukoko stayed on the pitch.
However, Lupopo have now confirmed that Mukoko has received a two-match suspension by CAF and will miss their group stage opener against Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as the second fixture against Al Hilal.
Meanwhile, Pirates’ attempt to get reinstated into the CAF Champions League got dismissed by CAF, which also ordered the Buccaneers to pay fines worth R430 000.
