Banyana Striker Assists & Claims Bronze At CAFWCL

Banyana Banyana striker Kgalebane Mohlakoana provided the assist for TP Mazembe’s opening goal in their 3-1 win over FC Masar in their CAF Women’s Champions League bronze medal match in Egypt on Friday.

Mazembe were denied a final spot by eventual winners AS FAR in a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout defeat in the semi-final but did not leave empty-handed grabbing a third-place finish.

The 31-year-old lanky markswoman was named in the starting line-up and was on hand to provide the assist for Mazembe’s opener through Adesina.

Her teammate Marlène Kasaj Yav finished as the tournament’s top goalscorer with five goals.

Mohlakoana’s exploits at the CAFWCL seems to have earned her praise after being named in Dr Desiree Ellis’ squad to take on Morocco in a friendly international next month.

She joined the Congolese club in 2024 from Royal AM in South Africa and won the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League with the side.
