Kaizer Jr Explains Why Khumalo Is Not Part Of UK Tour

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr explained why DStv Diski Challenge head coach Vela Khumalo and striker Neo Bohloko did not travel with the team to the UK.

Chiefs’ reserve side are already in the UK for their nine-day tour where they will face Manchester United, Leeds United, and QPR. This tour is a reward for them after winning the DStv Diski Challenge last season.

Amakhosi are going there with some expectations after Stellenbosch FC won the NextGEN tournament the previous season.

But they will be without their head coach Vela Khumalo, and striker Bohloko who both missed out after being part of the the U-17 FIFA World Cup during the time the team was busy with biometrics for their visa and they couldn’t do their’s – with Dillon Sheppard taking charge of the group in the UK, as he has done in the DDC during Khumalo’s absence.

“A slight challenge with coach Vela and Neo Bohloko they won’t be traveling,” Motaung Jr told the media.

“When they were overseas for the [FIFA U17] World Cup they were not here to do biometrics. So unfortunately, they won’t be traveling with the team.

“Coach Sheppi will be with the boys and monitor the players who missed out on the cut. But it’s unfortunate [because] he played a massive role over the years, not just last season.

“We will be missing him. But he will be with us, the other guys will be here and also spend some time across the road [with first team], which is going to be interesting.”
