Bafana Bafana opponents Angola have announced their preliminary squad for the Africa Cup of Nations but there was again no space for Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel despite 55 players being called up.
Miguel, 29, has been one of the pillars for Chiefs since joining the club ahead of last season. But despite being one of the first names on Amakhosi’s team sheet, Miguel has once again been overlooked by his national team.

The centre-back missed out on Angola’s preliminary squad ahead of the tournament less than a month, where they will face South Africa, Egypt and Zimbabwe.
The Chiefs defender seemingly couldn’t convince head coach Patrice Beaumelle despite playing almost every game in the Betway Premiership and in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The 29-year-old was part of Angola’s squad at the previous AFCON in Ivory Coast after he received a late call-up but he didn’t get game-time.
Miguel last featured for the Palancas Negras in November 2023, when he got two minutes off the bench against Cape Verde, but he has never represented Angola since joining Amakhosi. Overall, he has made five appearances for Angola, with his other games hailing from 2021.
Meawhile, Orlando Pirates winger Gilberto, who is on loan at Petro de Luanda has made the preliminary squad, as did former Cape Town City goalkeeper Hugo Marques.
Angola kick off their AFCON on 22 December vs Bafana Bafana, before facing Zimbabwe and closing off the group stages against Egypt.
