Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says his side should be proud of its performance in the match against Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger.
The Brazilians drew 0-0 in the CAF Champions League group stage clash at the Ali La Pointe Stadium, in a match where there wasn’t much of goal-scoring chances created.

As a result, Masandawana remained at the summit of Group C with four points accumulated from two matches played so far.
Cardoso, reflecting on the performance, said he was pleased with how his side dictated the game.
He also credited Alger’s midfield unit for effectively closing down spaces and preventing them from finding their usual joy.
“I think it was a beautiful match, played by two very good teams,” said Cardoso after the match.
“I think that Sundowns have to be proud of what we did in the match. We had intention to control the match and we controlled it.
“Anyway, good strategy from MC Alger, closing the middle, the space that we are quite stronger in using.
“We knew that this space would have a big fight inside because both teams have quality to play inside. It was also important to have numbers inside.
“That blocks offensive movements to the last third for both teams. I have a big respect for what happened in the pitch in a fantastic ambiance where it’s sometimes difficult to play and to manage emotions.
“My team showed a lot of maturity, managing different moments, fantastic organisation and good pressure. We would have liked to take three points, but we’re taking one and moving on.”
