Maboe – My CAF Experience Will Come In Handy

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe believes his experience in continental competitions will enable him to contribute significantly to his new team.

Amakhosi face Zamalek SC in a CAF Confederation Cup group-stage encounter at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium this afternoon, kicking off at 15:00.

Maboe, who joined the Soweto giants at the start of the season, says the knowledge he gained during his time with Mamelodi Sundowns will be valuable for Chiefs.

The 31-year-old spent six years at Masandawana, regularly reaching the latter stages of the CAF Champions League, and understands the standards expected at this level.

“I think in some games, it’s gonna come in very handy because I know how it is to play away,” said Maboe.

“I know the pressure of playing in this competition especially. The previous game in Egypt gave us a sense that we were in control, but we didn’t convert the chances, we didn’t score.

“Once you feel that, we’ll grow, we’ll definitely grow in the tournament.”

Chiefs will be looking to secure a victory against Zamalek after opening their group-stage campaign with a defeat to Al Masry.
