Kaze Gives Sirino Injury Update

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze admits they are in the dark about influential midfielder Gaston Sirino’s injury who will be assessed on Sunday.

The Uruguayan was just returning from suspension and started the Group D clash against the North Africans at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. However, he only lasted less than 15 minutes as he was stretched off with a knock. The former Mamelodi Sundowns man had a good opportunity to equalise from range before the injury, but he was denied by the woodwork.

The Burundian coach admitted it was unfortunate as he had hopes on Sirino and now they can only assess the injury and see how the player is doing.

“I believe it was unfortunate because as well I had hopes that Sirino was well in the game,” said Kaze after the match.

“He had a shot from I think 50 meters and hit the post. And he had the confidence; he has as well experience.

“It’s unfortunate for us; it’s unfortunate for him. The thing is that we have to assess his injury and see how he is doing tomorrow.”
