Egypt national team head coach Hossam Hassan has announced his 28-man squad that will participate in the upcoming AFCON in Morocco.
Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah will lead Egypt in the upcoming AFCON. Hassan didn’t have much to think about when it comes to naming his final squad. The Egyptian legend was appointed as the head of the national team back in 2024. Since then, he has led the Pharaohs qualifying for the AFCON and 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The AFCON squad that he named consists of mostly local players, with the likes of goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, midfielder Emam Ashour who recently returned from injury, and Ahmed Sayed Zizou. As it was expected, Al Ahly SC dominates the squad.
Here’s the 28-man squad:

The Egyptians will open their AFCON encounter against Zimbabwe on 22 December, four days later they will face Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana and then close the group stages against Angola on 29th December.
In the previous AFCON, Egypt finished the group with three points after playing three draws but managed to make it to the next round. They were eliminated in the round of 16 by DRC via penalties. The aim would definitely to go all the way this time around win it.
