Marumo Gallants goalkeeper Washington Arubi has spoken out about his penalty-saving heroics ahead of the Carling Knockout Cup final against Orlando Pirates.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa are going to face off against the Buccaneers on Saturday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium at 18:00.
Arubi proved to be the hero in both the first round and the semifinal, steering his team past Mamelodi and Golden Arrows, respectively.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper says he has a secret to saving penalties — one he isn’t willing to reveal.
“Yeah, it’s something training and also I really appreciate the advice from the coach,” said Arubi.
“There’s a secret, I can’t reveal it because they are going to know.
“But for now, I’m not even thinking about penalties, I’m thinking about the 90 minutes which is going to be crucial.
“Then if it goes to extra time, then after that I’ll think about penalties after the extra time.
“For now, I’m just thinking about 90 minutes, we have been preparing the whole and we will make sure that we work hard and be ready for the game.”
