‘Yaya’ Breaks Silence After Tondela Contract Extension

Bafana Bafana midfield enforcer Sphephelo Sithole has revealed the reason behind his decision to extend his stay with Primeira Liga outfit Clube Desportivo de Tondela.

On Tuesday, Tondela announced that they had extended ‘Yaya’s stay at the club until the end of June 2027.

The 26-year-old South African international has been an integral part of Hugo Broos’ squads since making his national team breakthrough in 2022. He aided Bafana to both AFCON and World Cup qualifying campaigns and has been included in the 25-man squad to do duty at AFCON next month.

Sithole took time to express how it was a no brainer for him to continue his relationship with the Portuguese club.

“I am naturally very happy with this renewal. It’s a sign of the trust that CD Tondela places in me. Tondela is undoubtedly a special Club, the City people who like CDT make me feel at home, and for all these reasons it was easy to extend my connection and continue as an auriverde,” he told the club’s website.

“Now, it’s time to focus on what we have to do, all together, training by training, game by game, to achieve our goals.”
