Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane is sitting on the fence regarding where this season’s Betway Premiership title could be headed.
Orlando Pirates have taken advantage of Mamelodi Sundowns’ inconsistency on the local front as well as their daunting schedule in the CAF Champions League.
The Buccaneers currently top the log standings with 28 points with a game in hand on second-placed Masandawana on 26 points.
‘Jingles’ has however warned that Sundowns’ experience in the league title-run, having bagged eight consecutive PSL championships, could aid them yet again though Pirates will be giving them a run for their money.
“We [the league] are doing very well. Pirates is doing exceptionally well. Pushing Sundowns, rattling Sundowns a little bit which is what we want,” Mosimane said in an interview on SABC TV.
“But it’s a long haul this thing. You can’t say who’s gonna win the league. Sundowns has got a history and experience of going for a very long time, but Pirates says, ‘maybe not this year’.”
