Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has expressed his satisfaction with defender Khulumani Ndamane, who’s part of the team that’s going to AFCON.
South Africa will depart for Morocco on Wednesday to continue their preparations ahead of the tournament, with their opening match scheduled for 22 December against Angola.
Bafana defeated Ghana’s Black Stars 1–0 in an AFCON warm-up match at Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday.
After the game, Hugo Broos was asked for his assessment on Ndamane, who featured in a role likely to be occupied by Mbekezeli Mbokazi at the tournament.
The coach said he was pleased with Ndamane’s performance, adding that the TS Galaxy defender has impressed in every appearance for Bafana, including against Ghana.
“It’s already a fantastic thing for him that he can go with Bafana Bafana to AFCON,” said Broos.
“Secondly, every game that Khulumani has played, I was satisfied. Also, today [vs Ghana], also the previous games that he played.
“So, I know that even if he doesn’t play, I can count on him. He proved himself also today that he deserves to be with us.
“So, that makes me happy. Two years ago, we won games because there were guys on the bench who came on and decided the game.
“I’m very happy that even if he doesn’t play, he’s on the bench, I can always count on him.”
