Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes that Bafana Bafana midfielder Sipho Mbule needed a goal to supplement his good performances.
Mbule scored his first international goal in Bafana’s 1-0 win over Ghana in their last international friendly before going to the Africa Cup of Nations at Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday. The former Mamelodi Sundowns man has enjoyed a good start to the current season with Orlando Pirates who he joined at the start of the term as well while cementing in plays in the senior national team.
The goal on Tuesday was a first in all fronts for the ‘Master Chef’ this season and Khanye says Mbule needed it while applauding the beauty of the goal.
“Well done to Sipho Mbule, I know there were debates if he should have been rested,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“Good goal and I think the guy needed that goal. His start, he knows football and he’s aware of is capabilities. And what I’m asking from him, climbing up is hard but to maintain is even harder.
“He has grabbed his chance very well at Orlando Pirates. He’s doing very well he was just short of a goal, and it wasn’t a simple goal like a tap in. He intercepted and scored, so well done to Sipho he did very well on that goal.”
