The final FIFA ranking of 2025 was released, with Bafana Bafana staying in 11th position on the continent and 61st worldwide.
With the Africa Cup of Nations having started, all eyes are currently on Africa. Hugo Broos and his team got off to a perfect start, beating Angola 2-1.
However, the latest FIFA ranking of the year were released on Monday, with AFCON hosts Morocco remaining the highest-ranked African nation in 11th overall.
The Atlas Lions are followed by Senegal in 19th, and Algeria in 34th – with the Desert Warriors overtaking Egypt, who dropped into 35th.
Meanwhile, Nigeria rounds out the top five on the continent, sitting in 38th overall. Tunisia, in 41st and Ivory Coast, in 42nd are also inside the top 50.
Mali, in 53rd, DR Congo, in 56th, and Cameroon, in 57th, complete Africa’s top 10, with South Africa appearing just outside in 61st.
