Mohafe On Six Local Coaches Who Inspire Him

Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe has revealed six local coaches who have been inspirational to him in his coaching journey.

Mohafe is one of the fairly young coaches in the league in terms of experience though he has grown in leaps and bounds even empowering himself with the coaching badges.

This year he started with his CAF A License being the longest serving coach for the Limpopo-based outfit. Rise and Shine went into the AFCON break sitting in sixth position on the Betway Premiership log with 23 points in 14 matches.

Mohafe revealed on #PrimeSportsWithMahlatse that Pitso Mosimane, Manqoba Mngqithi, Mandla Ncikazi, Steve Komphela, Steve Barker and Gavin Hunt have had an influence on his career and continue to do so.

“I spoke a lot with the coach Pitso while he was at [Mamelodi] Sundowns,” said Mohafe.

“I’m speaking a lot with Coach Manqoba [Mngqithi] I’m speaking a lot with Coach Mandla Ncikazi, and I spoke a lot with the Coach Steve Komphela. So those are the guys who have paved this coaching career with me, and I also speak with two coaches, Steve Barker and the Coach Gavin, when I meet them.

“So, they are so encouraging, and they ascertain me that if I put my head between the shoulders, then I will become the next big thing. So, I didn’t take that and raise my head and say I’ve arrived. I just take that as a word of encouragement and I thank them for doing that, because they’ve done that.

“They’ve seen that and they just want us to walk the same journey as they walk, but better than what they have done previously.”
