Hunt On Appointment As Stellies Coach

New Stellenbosch FC head Gavin Hunt has expressed being energised by the club’s project as he vows to challenge for silverware.

The 61-year-old tactician took over the reins at the Cape Winelands outfit following the shock exit of Steve Barker who has taken up the Simba SC head coaching role in Tanzania.

Hunt boasts four Premiership titles, two Nedbank Cups, one MTN8 trophy, as well as a Telkom Knockout triumph, and the Cape Town-born mentor wants to build on an already formidable Stellies side.

“I am honoured to be joining Stellenbosch FC at this exciting time,” Hunt told the Stellies website.

“This is a forward-thinking Club with a clear vision, and from my first conversations with the CEO and staff, I could sense the ambition and the support structures that are in place. This is crucial for any coach who wants to succeed.

“Stellenbosch have built something special in recent years, and I am motivated to build on that foundation. There’s plenty of work ahead of us, but I am energised by the challenge.

“The Winelands deserve success, and I’m committed to giving everything I have to bring silverware and memorable moments to our supporters.”

Hunt also has six PSL Coach of the Season accolades to his star-studded success.
