Sipho Mbule has revealed what Hugo Broos told him at half-time against Zimbabwe to improve his game.
Mbule, 27, has been Broos’ preferred choice in the Themba Zwane role, with the Orlando Pirates midfielder starting two of the three group games at the Africa Cup of nations so far.
While Mbule perhaps has not influenced Bafana Bafana’s games as much from an attacking sense as he and the coach would have liked, the midfielder now revealed Broos told him to move his game further forward.
“Coach told me… cause even in the first and second game it’s been the same thing, he gave me some tools going into the second half,” he said on SABC2.
“He told me to move a little bit more, and I mustn’t stay too long with the defensive midfielder.
“But I think with what he told me; I’m going to use it moving forward.”
Mbule also admitted it was a relief that Bafana booked their spot in the knockout stages, but the players showed huge determination to get there.
“As Lyle [Foster] said, we are very much relieved cause this is what we wanted – we wanted to go through to the next stage,” he continued.
“I think even when we played everyone showed hunger and discipline and will to win to go to the next round.”
