Phiri Closes In On New PSL Club After Europe Return

Sekhukhune United are edging closer to securing the signature of former Bafana Bafana star Lebogang Phiri.

The 31-year-old midfielder played a friendly this afternoon for Babina Noko against AmaTuks with his move to the Betway Premiership side now likely, iDiski Times has established.

This publication understands that there has been talks between Babina Noko and Phiri’s camp. After the departure of Miguel Timm, Phiri is seen as a perfect replacement even though Timm played just over 550 minutes.

The former Paris FC midfielder has been a free agent since leaving French Ligue 2 side EA Guingamp in January 2024. He has been in Europe for over a decade.

Phiri has six Bafana Bafana caps under his belt after making his debut in March 2015. He last played for Bidvest Wits in South Africa.

United already announced two signings; Bradley Lehlohonolo Mojela from Stellenbosch FC and Ivorian winger Amede Tidiane Diomande.

Babina Noko currently sits in third place just three points behind league leaders Orlando Pirates.
