Club Brugge head coach Ivan Leko has spoken out about the recent red card shown to Bafana Bafana starlet Shandre Campbell.
The 20-year-old received his marching orders for a violent conduct during their defeat at the hands of Sporting Charleroi in the Crocky Cup on Tuesday night.
It was Campbell’s first appearance since returning from AFCON, following Bafana Bafana’s Round of 16 exit.
He played just five minutes before being shown a red card after an opponent held him, prompting a violent retaliation.
Club Brugge coach Leko said he “didn’t see” the incident involving Campbell that led to the red card.
However, he further stated, “He’s a young guy who lost control at a difficult moment. You shouldn’t do something like that.”
This season, Campbell has played 10 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal in the process.
