After Senegal lifted their second Africa Cup of Nations title, the individual awards winners of the tournament were announced.
Brahim Diaz, who became the villain in the final after missing a 113th minute panenke, walked away with the golden boot award after netting five goals.
Morocco’s Yassine Bounou won the Golden Glove for the Goalkeeper of the Tournament after keeping five clean sheets in seven games.
Meanwhile, Sadio Mane was named Player of the Tournament for his performances on the pitch, but also his leadership off it.
Mane scored two and set up two more, but he showed true leadership in the final when large parts of his teammates had walked off the pitch after conceding a contentious penalty in the 95th minute.
Mane, though, called them back on the pitch, Edouard Mendy saved the spot-kick and Pape Gueye scored the winning goal in extra-time, leading to Senegal’s second AFCON title after 2021.
Hosts Morocco, won the Fair Play award.
