Zwane – What To Expect From New Signings

AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed what to expect from the club’s new signings, Mason Mushore and Luyolo Slatsha.

Usuthu brought in the aforementioned players, along with Brazilian-born defender Gustavo Lopes, during the January transfer window.

Zwane says the Zimbabwean midfielder, Mushore, brings calmness to decision-making in midfield. However, he is still struggling somewhat with the high intensity.

“Good players, Mason brings calmness, his decision-making on the ball is second to none,” said Zwane during the media open day on Wednesday.

“Obviously, he’s still lacking because the intensity is not the same. He also said that himself, the intensity in Zimbabwe and this side is totally different.

“He’s going to bring us that balance. He can play as a six, as a centre-back, if you want to play with three, you can use him. Very comfortable on the ball.”

Meanwhile, Zwane believes Slatsha is a modern number six who can offer the same qualities Bongani Zungu brings to the team.

“Slatsha is your modern number six, he doesn’t have a big body in terms of physique,” he added.

“But on the ball, in our structure, our double pivot, they are more of playmakers. We don’t just want fighters, we want playmakers, when we build up from the back, progressing the ball to the areas of creativity.

“When Bongani [Zungu] is not available, Slatsha brings that decision-making, that creativity, that playmaking of coming in tight situations, to say when we’re under pressure, don’t just kick the ball forward, but we pinpoint the right players.”
