Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef says their CAF Confederation Cup target is to reach the group stages and then take each game as a cup game.
Amakhosi picked up vital maximum points away from home at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola last Sunday for their first win in Group D of continental football this campaign.
Pule Mmodi’s second minute strike from close range saw the Glamour Boys celebrate a historic first-ever win against a Zambian side to sit third in a group comprised of Egyptian sides Zamalek and Al Masry.
Ben Youssef also added on competing on both domestic and continental fronts with Marumo Gallants up next in the league before they take on ZESCO again this weekend.
“I think with the board from the beginning we discussed about our participation in CAF game is the first thing we have to be,” he said after the Zesco match.
“We must be in the group stage, and they think this thing we did it already.
“And then when we’re in the group stage, we’re managing each game, game-by-game as a cup game.
“Now, we’re third in the rank. Still four games, if we win these [four] game we will be qualified so we will take each game as a cup game.
“Now, we have to focus first about Marumo Gallants Wednesday. We have to win this game to continue to fight for the PSL also.
“And then we have to restart about ZESCO United, the second game against them. We have to again watch this game to prepare the plan of the game also.”
