Rulani Bemoans Lack Of Signings Despite Win

Despite picking up a vital win against St Eloi Lupopo, MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena was visibly frustrated at the club for failing to land him his transfer targets.

Just last week, Mokwena spoke about the possibility of the club bringing in three to four new players, but the Algerian champions seem to have performed a u-turn on that.

Mokwena led his charges past the DRC outfit who they dispatched 2-0 in their CAF Champions League Group C encounter on Sunday which lifted them into third place on four points – one behind Mamelodi Sundowns in second and four adrift of leaders Al-Hilal Omdurman.

In his post-match press conference, Mokwena admitted that it was difficult to be happy at picking up maximum points after not getting his signings.

“As a coach, regardless of what we have, in the end I’ll be judged on the results, in the end,” he said.

“So, I have to live and die by this responsibility whether we brought in four, five new players or whether the squad stays the same like now.

“I have incredible confidence in the squad for the challenges that we have, and this is the only thing I will say.

“And I don’t know if you see in my face, I don’t look like the happy Mokoena that you’ve seen in many of your press conferences.

“And even after a good performance and a good result, I should be a little bit happier, unfortunately it’s very difficult.

“But we’ll fight till the end. It is our responsibility and zero excuses.”
