‘He’s Top Class’ – Kanu On Chippa Star

Chippa United head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has heaped praise on utility player Abbubaker Mobara, who is still relatively new to the club’s setup but has already made a positive impression.

The 31-year-old joined the Chilli Boys during the January transfer window on a free transfer after being without a club for more than six months.

Mobara parted ways with AmaZulu at the end of last season, bringing to an end a spell of over two seasons with the KwaZulu-Natal-based side.

Since arriving at Chippa United, Mobara has featured in just two matches across all competitions, turning out against Orbit College in the Betway Premiership and Durban City in the Nedbank Cup.

Despite playing just two games, Vilakazi believes the experienced campaigner has added much-needed stability to the team.

According to the coach, Mobara’s long period without a club has not affected his performances, as he has settled in quickly and adapted well to the demands of the squad.

Vilakazi also highlighted the player’s versatility as a major asset, noting that he can be deployed in a variety of roles, including centre-back, midfield, or right-back.

“Mobara is top class, Mobara gives us stability defensively and you can even play him in the midfield or right-back,” said Vilakazi.

“So, he’s a super player, when you didn’t have a job for seven months but you can’t say it now because he’s been with us for three weeks. He’s doing a great job for us.”
