In-form Adams On Decisive MC Alger Tie

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams has shared his thoughts ahead of a decisive CAF Champions League encounter as the Brazilians look to secure their place in the next round of the competition.

Masandawana were held to a 1–1 draw by FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo this past weekend, with Adams finding the back of the net to score the equaliser in the second half after Sundowns had fallen behind before the break. The result leaves little margin for error as the group stage nears its conclusion.

Sundowns will now turn their attention to a crucial clash against MC Alger on Saturday, 14 February, at Loftus Versfeld.

Heading into the fixture, the Tshwane giants know that nothing less than a victory will be enough to guarantee qualification for the knockout stages.

Speaking ahead of the match, Adams emphasised the importance of thorough preparation if they are to achieve the desired result.

“We must go all out, we need to win that one, but the preparations must be good,” said Adams, as per the club’s website.

“We must recover and look forward to it.

Regarding the match against Lupopo, he feels they delivered a better display in the second half after the coaches adjusted the tactical approach.

“It was a very intensive game, first half, we kept the ball well but they played with four in the midfield and it confused us,” he added.

“As the game went on, the players and coaches gave us other game plan, and it worked.

“Second half came, we controlled the game and they got tired a bit as we had a lot of spaces. So, we profited from that.”

About the goal he scored, Adams said, “I used to score those goals, but normally near post, I thought I’m gonna go back post then the ball ended there, I scored.”
