Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the CAF Confederations Cup despite finishing Group D with 10 points.
Amakhosi suffered a heart-breaking 2-1 loss to Zamalek on Saturday evening, while Al Masry beat ZESCO United 2-0 at home.
The two results completely changed the positions in the log, with Chiefs going as leaders into the last match day.
However, Amakhosi dropped from first into third spot, with Zamalek moving to the top with 11 points. Al Masry are second with 10 points – as many as Amakhosi but beat the Soweto giants based on goals scored.

Chiefs and Al Masry are level on the first tie breakers, which is the head-to-head record after both side beat the other 2-1.
But after Al Masry progress based on the better goal difference of +2, while Chiefs end the group with +1. Even if Al Masry hadn’t added the second goal tonight, they would’ve ended ahead of Amakhosi based on their goals scored.
Final Group D log:
- 1) Zamalek | 11 pts | +2
- 2) Al Masry | 10 pts | +2
- 3) Kaizer Chiefs | 10 pts | +1
- 4) Zesco United | 3 pts | -5
