Doc On Petersen’s New Chiefs Contract Talks

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has reacted with no surprise of talks that the club is looking to tie down goalkeeper Brandon Petersen to a new and improved contract.

The 31-year-old has been in superb form for the Glamour Boys starting from last season’s Nedbank Cup final where he aided his side to their first domestic trophy in a decade.

This campaign, the former Bidvest Wits shotstopper has recorded 11 clean sheets in 15 Betway Premiership outings, one behind Orlando Pirates’ Sipho Chaine who sits on 12 in 16 league appearances.

Khumalo says Petersen deserves a new contract stemming from his performances this season even though they were recently knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup.

“I think it’s a good thing for him to get a new contract,” he said on Soccerzone.

“Because he’s been outstanding, he’s been doing very well irrespective of the results that happened in Cairo.

“But, overall, he went a couple of games without conceding, and probably that’s the reason why we see Kaizer Chiefs third or fourth on the log.

“I thought Brandon did very, very well there. Actually he did very well so far.”
