Two South African youngsters, Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Puso Dithejane, made their debuts for Chicago Fire in their 2-1 loss against Houston Dynamo.
Mbokazi started his game in Major League Soccer for Chicago Fire away from home against Houston Dynamo.
The 20-year-old made a brilliant double goal-line clearance in the 42nd minute when Chicago Fire was leading 1-0.
The Men in Red conceded their first goal in the 66th minute; 10 minutes later, Dynamo scored the second goal to make it 2-1.
With The Fire chasing a goal to at least salvage a point, head coach Gregg Berhalter introduced Dithejane in place of Mbokazi, but it was not enough as they suffered a loss.
Meanwhile, Bradley Carnell’s Philadelphia Union FC suffered a 1-0 loss away from home. Olwethu Makhanya played the entire match and received a yellow card in the 41st minute.
Minnesota United’s Bongokuhle Hlongwane secured a point away from home in their 2-2 draw against Austin FC. Hlongwane played 65 minutes before being substituted for Julian Gressel.
The next round of the MLS will be played next Saturday.
