Nedbank Cup Quarter-Finals Revealed

The Nedbank Cup quarter-finals were drawn on Monday evening, with a new winner set to be crowned after South Africa’s top three were eliminated already.

This year marks the first time since 2008/09 that none of the big three have reached the quarter-finals of the competition, and only the second time since Nedbank have taken over as sponsor.

Defending champions Kaizer Chiefs were already knocked out in the Round of 32, losing 2-1 to Stellenbosch FC – with Stellies themselves knocked out by Golden Arrows this weekend.

In addition, Mamelodi Sundowns were eliminated by TS Galaxy, losing 2-0 on Saturday, while Orlando Pirates went down 5-4 on penalties to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars.

It is now a chance for new players to write their names into the cup of dreams folklore, with the draw for the quarter-finals bringing some enticing ties.

With AmaZulu, Durban City, Golden Arrows, Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy, five Betway Premiership sides are still in the competition, while Casric and Milford from the Motsepe Foundation Championship qualified and Jacksa Spears from the amateur ranks.

All quarter-final clashes:

  • AmaZulu vs Casric. Stars
  • Sekhukhune United vs Milford FC
  • TS Galaxy vs Jacksa Spears
  • Golden Arrows vs Durban City
