Banyana Banyana came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Lesotho in their final Group A at the 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship at a hot Seshego Stadium on Tuesday.
The host nation had an early opportunity to break the deadlock from a Zoe October set-piece in the 10th minute, but the Lesotho goalkeeper tipped it put for corner. Nothing came off the corner for Banyana.

Lesotho gained confidence going forward with Makhotso Moalosi taking an aim at Dineo Magagula’s goal seven minutes later but that shot didn’t trouble the Banyana captain on the day.
Moalosi’s persistence was rewarded just after the half hour mark and she opened the scoring for the side from the mountain kingdom.
Desiree Elli’s charges responded eight minutes later through Thosisho Mphelo leaving the game tied at 1-1 at the break.
Ellis rang changes in the second half bringing in Gabriela Moodaly- Salgado for Gugu Dhlamini, Regina Mogolola for Fiona Namanyana and Asanda Hadebe for Unathi Simayile. Moodaly-Salgado almost got on the score sheet after an hour, but her shot was saved.
Sibongakonke Mzobe could have scored South Africa’s second from a Hadebe pass but keeper came out to make a super save.
Banyana topped group A with seven points and will meet best runners–up Zimbabwe in the semi-finals on Friday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
