Cardoso Shares Thoughts On Soweto Derby

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has insisted he will not have time to watch Saturday’s Soweto Derby, as he will prepare for his side’s match against Sekhukhune United.

This weekend’s fixtures could have implications on the title race with second-placed Orlando Pirates facing fourth-placed Kaizer Chiefs in the much-anticipated derby on Saturday, while leaders Sundowns face third-placed Sekhukhune on Sunday.

With much hype around the derby, Cardoso was asked about his views on the fixture after his side’s 1-0 win at AmaZulu on Tuesday, but he insisted it’s just a normal game for him and he won’t even make time to watch it.

“Everybody has to play, everybody,” Cardoso stated.

“Of course, at the end of the championship, maybe we will see the mathematics.

“Look, as many points are lost from our opponents, the best, for sure. The other ones are asking us to also lose points.

“So, I don’t really know, I think the most important for us is that on Sunday we will play Sekhukhune. That is the focus that we are going to have. I will not have time on that [match].

“On the day before the match, I will have so many things to do, that I will not be really looking that match.”

Pirates face Chiefs at 15:30 on Saturday, while Downs host Babina Noko at the same time on Sunday.
