Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze says every side currently sitting in the top six of the Betway Premiership standings remains in contention for the league crown.
Amakhosi are part of that chasing pack, although inconsistency in both performances and results has, at times, slowed their momentum. The Phefeni Glamour Boys occupy fourth place with 30 points from 16 matches.
Chiefs are set to face Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with crucial points and local bragging rights on the line.
Despite not being viewed by many as outright favourites, Kaze maintains his side is firmly in the title race, pointing out that the gap between them and the teams above is still manageable.
“I’d say that mathematically, everyone in the top six can win the league,” said Kaze on SuperSport.
“It’s all gonna depend on how we pick up points in the second round of the season. But the hope is there, we gonna put the work in.
“The confidence is there too and we’re close to the teams that are ahead of us as well. We gonna take game by game, we know what’s at stake what we need to do.
“I’d say that it’s open to probably six teams. We’re happy to be there and we’re happy to stay on top.”
