Kaze Reacts To ‘Disappointing’ Derby Defeats

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze says the performance of his players in the Soweto Derby was a “big disappointment”, as his side went down 3-0 to rivals Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers got off to the perfect start, scoring in the five minute after putting Amakhosi under pressure from the get go.

Chiefs never found their feet in the first half and were trailing 2-0 at the break without having an attempt on target.

Pirates added a third in the second half to seal one of their highest Soweto Derby wins in recent history, with Chiefs now trailing the leaders by 11 points with a game in hand.

“I believe that the opponents deserve the win, we were nowhere near them,” Kaze said on SuperSport TV.

“The first four, five minutes we conceded a goal on the short corner, that maybe took a toll on how we wanted to start the game.

“I feel like in the second half in the half we came with better intention, with better ideas, as well as the opponents used tricks in the first 15 minutes, every minute falling down and took our energy down too.

“After that, the third goal, Miguel is out, we are a man down and we don’t manage the moment well.

“It’s a big disappointment, but we still have 13 games to go. We need to pick our heads up. It’s a very difficult pill to swallow but we need to swallow, and go back to training field to work more.”

Pirates moved to the top of the log, leading Sundowns by three points, but Masandawana could overtake them on Sunday if they beat third-placed Sekhukhune United.
