Adams Opens Up On Return To Form

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams admits that being out of the team was a difficult period for him and has since grabbed his chance with both hands.

Adams marshalled the Sundowns midfield alongside Teboho Mokoena and was named the man of the match as they soared to an emphatic 3-1 win over Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday afternoon.

Marcelo Allende’s solitary strike and Iqraam Rayner’s second half brace was enough to see Miduel Cardoso’s men survive a scare after Babina Noko had got back in the game through Bradley Grobler’s header.

The win saw Sundowns move level on points (41) with top-placed Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership standings after 18 matches.

The 24-year-old Bafana Bafana man had for a period of time fell out of favour at Chloorkop due to a dip in form and alleged off-field issues.

This also caused him a place in the national team as he was left out for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco by head coach Hugo Broos.

He has now since worked his way back strongly and has featured in 14 league outings this campaign with a single goal to his name.

Speaking to SuperSport TV, the former Stellenbosch FC talent made an admission that it was a difficult period in his life when he was out of the team and not playing.

“It was a very difficult ordeal for me,” he said in his post-match interview.

“Yeah, I got a break and focused on myself and when I came back, I did my all.

“And yeah, I got my opportunity and I took it with both hands.”
