Mike Makaab, the agent of Kaizer Chiefs duo Mfundo Vilakazi and Mduduzi Shabalala has set the record straight on rumours the players were out of the squad for the Soweto Derby due to ill-discipline.
Both Vilakazi and Shabalala missed the 3-0 derby defeat to Orlando Pirates, and it was claimed that they had been dropped from the squad.

However, co-coach Cedric Kaze already dismissed those rumours after the match, saying Vilakazi was injured while Shabalala’s absence was a “technical decision”.
On Monday, Makaab also confirmed that the talk of ill-discipline as reason for their drop was not true.
“Absolutely no truth at all [in those rumours],” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.
“I can tell you that Mfundo Vilakazi picked up a knock, a small knock. I’ve personally seen the doctor’s report.
“Mfundo and myself were on a call this morning, he called me in actual fact just to tell me about the results, it’s not serious.
“In terms of Mduduzi Shabalala, you heard what coach Kaze said, he said it was a tactical decision. So, I can tell you that wherever that report has come from it’s totally unsubstantiated and it saddens me.
“Because you got to be careful when you make statements like that. The minute you make statements like that; you start allowing the public to question the commitment of these youngsters.
“And these young players are hurting as much as anybody is hurting, let me tell you, in terms of the defeat over the weekend.”
Chiefs are back in action on Tuesday evening when they will face Richards Bay at a sold-out uMhlathuze Stadium at 19:30. They’ve lost four out of their last five games, dropping to fifth place on the Betway Premiership log – albeit with two games in hand.
A win on Tuesday would see Amakhosi climb back into third place.
