Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis has credited their hard-fought win over Polokwane City down to team effort.
The Buccaneers narrowly saw off Rise and Shine 2-1 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night to keep grip of their top spot in the Betway Premiership.
Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi scored for the visitors as they moved to 44 points, equal with Mamelodi Sundowns in second place.
Appollis admitted that it was not an easy game but not panicking and knowing their chances to score would come, got them over the line.
“Polokwane is a very difficult team, always when we face them it’s been a challenge, but we manage to always score,” he told OP TV.
“During the week the coach said it will be a difficult game and like you saw today [Wednesday], the boys put in more effort.
“We managed to control the game and we managed to score.
“But most importantly it’s us being patient and that is what we did, and we managed to score the two goals.
“When they equalized, there wasn’t panic. The boys kept the ball; we move it around.
“We knew we gonna get chances but well done to Tito [Patrick Maswanganyi] and [Deon] Hotto.
“But overall, I wanna congrats the whole team for putting in the effort for the win.”
