South African forward Thembinkosi Lorch has continued to impress since moving abroad, scoring his second goal for Libyan giants Al Ittihad as he maintains strong early form at the club.
The 32-year-old attacker completed a move to the Libyan side during the January transfer window. This was after leaving Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca, where he had been a key player.
Lorch was not the only arrival from Wydad. He also reunited with former teammate Stephane Aziz Ki following their joint move to North Africa.
Since settling in Libya, Lorch has quickly become an important figure in the team’s attack.
On Friday night, he found the back of the net in the 18th minute during Al Ittihad’s league 4-1 win against Al Shomooa, marking his second goal for the club in just a handful of appearances. Aziz Ki also netted his one on the day.
Lorch’s impact has not been limited to scoring. In the previous league match, Lorch played a crucial role in Al Ittihad’s 2-0 victory over Abelashhar, providing an assist for Mouad Issa’s goal as the team continued its strong run in the league.
With two goals and one assist in his first four matches, Lorch has made an immediate impression at Al Ittihad. They currently sit at the top of the league standings with 31 points from 11 matches.
