Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has made the bold prediction that Mamelodi Sundowns will lift the league trophy yet again this season, arguing they have found their rhythm again.
The Brazilians defeated Orbit College 2-0 in a Betway Premiership encounter at Olympia Park on Tuesday evening to open a three-point gap at the top of the table against Orlando Pirates.
Pirates could close the gap if they win against Richards Bay on Wednesday evening in Orlando. Meanwhile Sundowns amassed 47 points in 20 encounters with the victory over the relegation threatened rookies – their seventh in a row.
Khanye acknowledged Pirates’ competitiveness but maintained Sundowns will lift the title for a record ninth successive time come May.
“Well done to Sundowns and I’m still maintaining they will win the league again,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“I said this before the season started. Yes the race is tight and we should also compliment Pirates, let’s not disrespect them because they have played well this season.
“But the thing is Sundowns have re-discovered their rhythm and this is a quality team. When we talk about depth just look at this team.
“Some key players were not even playing. They are playing Champions League on Friday. But they will win the league.
“I’m honestly convinced they are going to win it. Write it down.”
